Project Information

El-Gabal El-Asfar wastewater treatment plant is the largest wastewater treatment plant in the Middle East and Africa, with a total capacity of 1,800,000 m3 per day.

The plant has a catchment area covering almost the entire middle and lower parts of Cairo East. The main project’s output is a 500,000 m3 /d primary and secondary wastewater treatment capacity added to the existing plant.

The people living within the entire catchment of the treatment plant (approx. 8 million) will benefit from the project as it will capture and treat the excess wastewater generated in these areas, and currently being disposed without treatment.
